Feeling Groovy at Disney's Pop Century Resort

Disney’s Pop Century Resort celebrates all things popular from the 60’s through the 90’s.  From Rubik’s Cubes to Big Wheels to Mood Rings to Yo’Yos, you will find larger than life icons that will bring back fond memories of childhood.

Here is what my family loved about staying at Pop Century Resort.

Budget:  Disney’s Pop Century Resort is in the Value category at Walt Disney World.  This means that the resort has fewer amenities than a moderate or deluxe level resort such as no waterslides or table service restaurants but still offers all the benefits of staying on property.  It is offered at a much lower price point making it an affordable option for many.  Depending on your length of stay and your goals while visiting Disney World, the value resort may be just right for you.  For example, when we stayed at Pop Century, it was a 4-night add on to our Disney Cruise.  Since it was a bit of a shorter Walt Disney World visit for us, we planned on spending all our time at the theme parks squeezing in as much as we could.  We did not miss any of the amenities because we simply were not at the resort much.  So, if you plan to spend the majority of time at the theme parks or if you are trying to “do” Disney on a budget, then Pop Century is perfect for you!

Accommodations:  This resort recently renovated their guest rooms to include one queen bed and one queen murphy bed.  This was perfect for our family of 4!  The rooms also include in room coffee makers, hair dryers, mini-refrigerator, in room safe, free Wifi, and toiletries such as shampoo and conditioner.

Location: Disney’s Pop Century Resort is in the Wide World Of Sports area right behind (a short walk) Art of Animation Resort.  We planned to walk to Art of Animation via the Generation Gap Bridge for a meal one day, but ran out of time.  Disney’s Pop Century is pretty centrally located and is in close proximity to Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Disney Springs.  You are able to get to these theme parks in about 10-15 minutes by bus.  Guests can get to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom in about 20-30 minutes by bus.  This was the perfect resort for us since we wanted to visit Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios during this vacation.

Transportation:  From your arrival to Orlando International Airport, you will be whisked into the Disney magic on The Magical Express.  Disney’s Pop Century Resort is serviced with the complimentary Magical Express to and from the airport as part of your “on property perks.”  The resort also has dedicated complimentary bus service to the Disney theme parks.  This means, unlike some other Disney resorts, Pop Century does not share buses with other resorts.  Once you are boarded on the bus, your next stop is your theme park of the day!  When staying at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, you also have access to the new Skyliner- a gondola system giving you a bird’s eye view of Walt Disney World below.

Pools:  There are three themed pools at Disney’s Pop Century Resort.  The Hippy Dippy Pool is the main pool with a 1960’s vibe.  This pool is a bit bigger than the other pools and is where many of the daily activities take place.  The Petals Pool Bar is located at this pool serving up adult beverages, sodas, and non-alcoholic smoothies.  There are two other pools that are smaller and quieter at the resort.

Dining:  Everything Pop is the quick service dining hall location on site at Pop Century Resort.  Here you can nosh on anything from a spinach omelet and Mickey Waffles at breakfast to burgers and sandwiches for lunch to pot roast and pizza for dinner.  The variety of options will satisfy even the pickiest of eaters.  Don’t miss the Tie-Dye Cheesecake for dessert!

This resort also offers pizza delivery right to your room.

Let's start planning your groovy stay at Disney's Pop Century Resort!
